ULA Delta II Successfully Lofts OCO-2 to Orbit

(Chatsworth, CA July 3 2014) – A ULA Delta II rocket successfully carried NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory 2 (OCO-2) into orbit Wednesday night from Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) in California. Space Vector Corporation under contract to ULA produced and qualified components of the mission critical Fuel Level Sensing System (FLSS) that were used on the flight. Within 9 months from contract award, Space Vector delivered the first flight FLSS electronic unit and flight cabling ahead of schedule allowing ULA to complete critical vehicle system checkouts prior to shipping the vehicle to the launch pad. A lot qualification test was also performed by Space Vector on a dedicated unit within this same time period. Follow-on production units have since been tested and delivered to ULA to support the remaining Delta II vehicles slated to be launched over the next few years.
